- A small pelagic fish with a width of about 2 cm & a length of up to 24 cm
- Capable of flying up to 200 meters
- Consisting of around 50 species grouped into 7 to 9 genera
- Found in all major oceans, especially in the tropical and subtropical waters of the Atlantic, Pacific, & Indian Oceans
